What is a sub-distribution board?
A sub-distribution board – also called an electrical sub-distribution board or sub-panel – is the part of an electrical installation that distributes power from a main board to the individual fuse groups, circuits and socket outlets. The sub-distribution board is the last distribution point before the electrical appliances and systems, and it typically contains miniature circuit breakers, residual current devices (RCDs) and possibly meters.
In commercial buildings and industry, sub-distribution boards are used to distribute power to specific zones, floors or functional areas. A well-dimensioned sub-distribution board ensures clear power distribution, easy fault finding and the possibility of future expansion.

Sub-distribution boards for commercial buildings
For office buildings, shops, hotels and institutions, Elcor supplies sub-distribution boards with space for many fuse groups, integration of electricity meters and connection to BMS systems. The boards are dimensioned according to the building's load profile and future expansion possibilities.
Sub-distribution boards for industry

Construction and components
A typical sub-distribution board from Elcor contains: main switch, miniature circuit breakers (MCB) in relevant characteristics, residual current circuit breakers (RCCB), surge protection devices (SPD) as needed, DIN rail system, bare or insulated busbars, terminal blocks for connection and space for future expansion. All components are selected from recognised manufacturers such as ABB, Schneider Electric or Hager.
Standards and legal requirements
Sub-distribution boards from Elcor are built in accordance with DS/EN 61439-1 and -2 (low-voltage boards) and comply with the Heavy Current Regulations' requirements for fuse and protection equipment. All boards are functionally tested and delivered with complete documentation including overview drawings, terminal lists and declaration of conformity.
